OUTSTANDING ARCHITECTURE

The architectural journey of SKYE Hotel Suites Parramatta begins in the dramatic foyer where guests are welcomed by Koichi Takada’s striking sculptural veil. The suspended piece flows like ribbons, a virtual waterfall framing the main entrance in crafted timber connecting the natural world with our urban resort.

PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

Located in the award-winning residential development, V by Crown Group, SKYE Hotel Suites Parramatta connects the past, present AND future. During excavation, one of colonial Australia’s first buildings was unearthed and can still be seen today along with multiple historical artefacts. The dramatic three-storey “V” column structures on Macquarie Street were purpose-built to exhibit archaeological remnants below. At the Philip Ruddock V Heritage Centre visitors can now discover footings from an 1840s convict hut and period cottage, as well as cellar ruins from the Wheatsheaf Hotel (later renamed the Shepard Inn), one of the earliest remnants of an Australian hotel.

THE UNVEILING

To mark the 2017 opening of the Philip Ruddock V Heritage Archaeology Display Centre, Crown Group Chairman and CEO Iwan Sunito cut the ribbon alongside former federal member for Parramatta, Philip Ruddock and his wife Heather, as well as NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
